Talented Kids

Some local middle-schoolers and a few elementary kids will show off various mad skills Friday night at LCMS. I’ve been watching rehearsals all week and I have to say that there is some major talent in Agoura Hills.

It really is a lot of fun to go out and see what great kids live in this area. Tickets are $8 at the door. There will also be some raffle prizes available throughout the evening.

Show starts at 6:30. Be prepared to be amazed!

Santa Monica Mountains Science Festival

I love this event!  I have been attending with my children for the past three years.

Just drive over to Paramount Ranch, slap on some sunscreen and get ready for some
hands on learning.  I suggest heading out earlier in the day because it is always hot
at this event.

The little ones will enjoy seeing the live animal display or becoming a junior
ranger.  The older kids will have fun talking with a scientist and finding out
the answer to questions, such as how to track certain kinds of animals in our
local mountains.

There will be vendors selling food, but it’s also nice to pack a lunch and there
are plenty of picnic tables.

Sumac L-STEM Food Trucks Are Coming April 19

The food trucks are coming, the food trucks are coming….

I love food trucks — my favorite is the Burger Bus in Santa Barbara (best mobile burgers ever!)

But who wants to drive out to Santa Barbara on a Friday evening?  Lucky for you Sumac L-STEM is hosting the food trucks again tomorrow evening.

They’ll have a MeSoHungry truck, FlatIron truck, Jersey Dogs, White Rabbit Filipion Fusion and more. Cost is 5 bucks to get access to this delicious food and a portion of all food sales goes to Sumac L-STEM PFA. Save yourself from doing the dishes tomorrow night and head over to Sumac. And say Happy Birthday to me if you see me!
I think 29 is going to be a fabulous year!

AYSO Region 4 Sign-Ups Coming

If you have kids and live in Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Oak Park or parts of Westlake Village, soccer is coming! Although training won’t start until late August, you need to sign up now. Save a little money and register April 27 at Willow Elementary. $135 for the first child, $125 for second child, $115 for third child, $75 for 4th child… do not sign up your fifth child — there is no way you can make it to that many games.

Can’t make the April 27th registration? Don’t worry, you can still get your kid signed up on May 4th, but it will cost you a bit more — $150 per child.

There are many papers to fill out before you register, so make sure and visit the AYSO Region 4 Web site before you show up at registration.

Conejo Valley Restaurant Week is Here!

It only happens one week a year… Conejo Valley Restaurant week. We are so lucky to live in an area that offers such fabulous, diverse restaurants. Now you can help support and celebrate our local eateries by making a reservation for a prix-fixe dinner. A list of restaurants — and their prix-fixe offerings — can be found at www.conejorestaurantweek.com.

I believe I’m going to go for Brendan’s Irish Pub’s offer — which happens to also coincide with my birthday. So pick up the phone and make a reservation in support of our diverses, local restaurants.

The Great Race is Coming!

The Great Race is coming up on March 23.  I have participated in this race with my husband for many years and it is a great race.  We do the 5K, but we have friends who say the half marathon is a great course.  The after-race party is fantastic.  The past two years our kids have gotten in on the gig and they love crossing the finish line and receiving their medal.

Many of the races will sell out, so sign up now
